March21,11 (MM:fail)

Guess I'll write in blue. Sad face. Today got away from us and we didn't even attempt a craft today!
Skylar actually mentioned it as I was tucking her in! As I turned to leave she said "Can we have Terrific Tuesday?" I was like "huh?" and she explained how we didn't do anything for Masterpiece Monday. OOPS
ok, so looks like we will totally have to have a makeup day!

March16,11 (WIUW: Choco-chip Pancakes)

So today I had an idea that involved sugar cookies. I purchased store bought dough to do this idea, but alas it was gone. I got out all other supplies I needed, got the baby in the highchair, explained everything to the kids, and the dough was gone! I asked my husband if he knew where the mystery dough went and he said, "uhhhh I thought that was from a  long time ago...I ..uh..threw it away" OMG, a long time ago? HUH? I asked what he meant and he said he thought it was old dough from when we made that chocolate pie. I was stunned. First of all, we used all the dough that day and secondly, couldn't he check the date on the package to see if it was old and not just purchased 2 days prior? Geesh he amazes me sometimes.
So, Skylar was very upset, but I calmed her down by coming up with something she could do completely on her own. (Sebastian was no longer interested so I let him watch Sissy. He just wanted to snack on some cheese crumbles and watch.) I had a package of Chocolate-chip muffin mix, so I showed her how to alter that package and turn it into pancakes. She did all the prep work herself and I cooked them. They ended up being our dessert and they were well loved by us all. Guess we'll save the sugar cookie idea for another Whip It Up Wednesday.
*I would just like to add that today was a perfect example of how I am with Sebastian and our activities. For the most part, he loves to do artwork, cook, etc, but for days like this, I let him just chill. I never force him to do anything. I offer and then it's up to him. I take his cues and let him lead me.

Happy Birthday Hubby! (Red Robin Review)

Today was the birthday of Daddy Monster. We went to Red Robin to celebrate. We had never been there before so it was a nice change. Very yummy and really good for children. They give them crayons and a coloring sheet as they wait on their food. The fries are steak-fry style and bottomless. The kids cups has a scavenger hunt printed on them so as they eat they can look around and try to spot things such as "Adult playing with their food". And bonus: kids get a helium balloon in their color choice as they leave! Great place, and we will totally be back!

Birthday Cards

So day we made birthday cards for Daddy. Sebastian made his on a green piece of construction paper while Skylar chose yellow. I wrote the greeting on the front and then traced his hand. Sebastian then used his markers and drew beautiful pictures inside the card. Skylar also used markers and stamps on her card. They turned out perfect! Skylar was really disappointed in hers cuz she rushed through it. But I loved it, of course I'm mommy, I love everything she creates, LOL

Wrapper Art

Next we did a project using cupcake wrappers, markers, glue, glitter and construction paper. Skylar did hers on her own and I helped Sebastian. He loved dumping the glitter on and squeezing the glue from the tube. This was a quick and easy project that both kids really enjoyed and I can see doing again! Big fun!!

Field Fascination

Sooo yesterday we wake up to a light covering of snow and today was beautiful. It was windy but beautiful. No traces of snow anywhere. Hubby and I decided to take advantage of today's weather and go to the park. Well, we were not the only ones with this idea as we quickly realized. The park was probably the most crowed I had ever seen it. I can't blame them, the weather has been crazy cold so it was nice to get out and stretch our legs.
I took my two monsters to the playgrounds. This particular park has several to choose from. I tried 3 that are within eyesight of each other and are most popular. Did they wanna swing? no. Did they wanna slide? no. Climb? no. Sebastian wanted to simply walk and run while Skylar was not really doing anything, so I took them to a nice area to run around. A field back behind the playgrounds. This went over perfectly. Both kids ran and chased each other, raced, etc. It was so excited for me to watch them have so much fun just existing with nature. No DSi, no games, no technology, just a romp in the field. 
( OK Mini-Rant!!: Days like today really make me realize how much I am irritated by the growing gas prices. I can no longer afford to do simple things like this and drive to the park as much anymore. Grrr. END Rant)
